The Indianapolis Colts have a huge AFC South matchup this week against the Tennessee Titans, and they may be missing a few key offensive stars. Although it was originally reported that their top receiver Michael Pittman Jr. would be out and even heading to the IR to miss four games, now, new reports are saying he may even play in this game!
Michael Pittman Jr. May Play This Week!
There is growing confusion now if their top receiver will be playing this game, as earlier in the week he was reportedly going to the IR and miss four games. Earlier in the week, Adam Schefter reported that Pittman may be heading to the injured reserve list and would miss multiple games with a back injury. The star receiver suffered the injury in last week’s game, and he joined a very long list of key injuries for the Colts.
Schefter reported at the time, that the injury was a brutal one and that Pittman would be missing significant time this season because of it. But today, on Friday, another Colts reporter is singing a very different tune on Pittman’s injury.
Per The Spun:
Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star said that Pittman was catching passes on Friday, and video on social media shows the receiver participating in drills.
Pittman was a non-participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, casting serious doubt on his availability. Schefter’s report seemed to confirm that the injury would affect Pittman enough to keep him out for an extended period of time.
There is yet to be any announcement on Pittman’s status for their game in two days, but it now appears that the receiver is going to attempt to play. Usually, Schefter is never wrong about these things, so something great must have happened this week for Pittman to feel comfortable catching passes already back at practice.
Indianapolis Colts Abolsutely NEED Michael Pittman Jr.
Pittman is by far their most important weapon on the team and has led them in receptions and targets so far in the season. The former second-round pick just signed his first huge deal in the NFL specifically a three-year extension worth nearly $72 million. The Colts are already injured badly with Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, and Julius Brents all unlikely to be playing this week.
Their quarterback Anthony Richardson is also been in and out of the lineup with injuries this season, but it seems he will be playing in this division-rival game. Pittman would be crucial to their team’s hopes of winning this game and getting their season back on track, but if he is out it should be a huge loss for the offense.
