The Florida State Seminoles are determined to keep a talented athlete close to home, but other parts of the country might be calling.
Landon Wolny, a three-star 2027 recruit, is a native of Fort Myers and has quickly received plenty of exposure. Wolny stands in at 6-feet-4-inches, and roughly 210-pounds with quite a burst of speed for someone of his size. The tight end/wide receiver hybrid is a tough athlete to defend and could translate his skills over to the collegiate level with relative ease.
The talented receiver has drawn plenty of interest from colleges already, and it is largely due to the unusual drive the recruit has for someone his age. When asked about what separates the recruit from other receivers, Wolny stated “Definitely my hard work and thankfulness for the sport” which has allowed the recruit to find a new appreciation for the sport.
Wolny added that he has learned to “be thankful for the process rather than the outcome” as he puts endless work in to improve.
Wolny started the collegiate recruiting process after being offered his first scholarship from Ole Miss as a freshman. The Rebels saw something special in the recruit, and now programs like Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, Colorado State, Kentucky, and Florida State have followed suit. While not every program has extended a scholarship yet, the recruit has begun to develop a relationship with the staff members of each program.
When asked about how he approaches the recruiting process, Wolny stated, “I always look for a sense of purpose in their coaching style and urgency in developing me.” The recruit also added, “At the end of the day, I am going to go where the staff will develop me into a first-round draft pick.” With the lofty goals set by the talented receiver, the program that aims to land the recruit will have to put their best foot forward during the process.
The Florida State Seminoles are an interesting program when it comes to the recruitment of Wolny as the team is looking to rebuild much of the talent that left. Wolny could be a potentially excellent fit for the Seminoles, should he decide to stay close to home.
What Could Landon Wolny Offer the Florida State Seminoles, Other Collegiate Programs?
While the Florida State Seminoles are not necessarily the closest team to Wolny, the fit between the two would be rather interesting to see.
The Florida State Seminoles recent cleared house and fired much of the staff below coach Mike Norvell, who has aimed to display a high-powered offense. With the quarterback situation likely solved for the next few seasons, adding a dynamic pass-catcher like Wolny would be the perfect marriage. The receiver has both the combination of speed and receiving ability that allows for quite a strong player on the football field.
However, as much as Wolny may fit into the Florida State Seminoles offense, the team will have to work to land the recruit. Wolny listed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as his “dream” school, and feels as though the opportunity to be a student-athlete for the program would be a hard offer to deny. Notre Dame has yet to do so, but if the opportunity were to arise, it would likely take a significant push from another team to land Wolny.
