The South Carolina Gamecocks were an afterthought in the SEC Conference during the first half of the 2024 college football season. However, a lot of people got South Carolina’s attention after they pulled off an upset against the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Gamecocks finished with a 9-3 regular season record and some fans were vouching for South Carolina to make the playoffs. They just missed the playoffs, and it was a good learning experience for head coach Shane Beamer and quarterback LaNoris Sellers. Entering the 2025 season, the Gamecocks will have high expectations. Beamer was in attendance for SEC Media Day in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday.
South Carolina Gamecocks Head Coach Shane Beamer Has High Expectations For His Football Program In 2025

With the Gamecocks having a 9-3 record in 2024 during the regular season, Beamer is looking for his team to reach another level in 2025. If South Carolina were to win 10 games in 2025, there is no doubt that they would be in the college football playoffs. Beamer spoke to the media on Monday about the upcoming college football season and said,
“I didn’t come here to go 7-5 every year. I came to South Carolina to compete for championships.”
This will be his fifth season with the program. The Gamecocks will have not an easy schedule in 2025. The toughest games on the schedule for South Carolina will be against the Clemson Tigers, the Ole Miss Rebels, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the LSU Tigers, and the Missouri Tigers. It will be interesting to see what will transpire with the Gamecocks football program in 2025.
South Carolina missing the playoffs and finishing with a 7-5 record would not be ideal. It would mean that this football program took a massive step back or Sellers got injured. If Sellers is healthy, this team is going to win a lot of games in 2025. Beamer is looking forward to getting this team to another level during the 2025 college football season.
