The Texas A&M Aggies look to build on last year’s bounce-back season and to contend for the SEC Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff berth in Mike Elko’s second year as head coach. The team also hopes to continue its dominance as one of the top rushing offenses in the SEC. The Aggies averaged 195.5 rushing yards per game, 4.8 yards per attempt, and 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game, ranking 26th in yards per game, tied for 35th in yards per attempt, and tied for 31st in touchdowns in 2024.
The offense accomplished this without their top rusher for the final stretch.
Texas A&M Aggies star RB missed the last four games

Le’Veon Moss was having a great junior year before an injury prematurely ended his season. Moss rushed for 765 yards on 121 attempts and ten touchdowns, averaging 6.3 yards per attempt and 85 yards per game, earning him Second-Team All-SEC. Unfortunately, the star junior suffered a season-ending right knee injury against South Carolina, which caused him to miss the final four games.
Moss did not participate in spring practices or the Maroon & White Game. The good news is that he is progressing well.
Texas A&M Aggies star receives major injury update

During Wednesday’s press conference via Cameron Ohnysty of Aggies Wire, Mike Elko gave an injury update on Le’Veon Moss. Elko shared that Moss should be “100%” for fall camp. He went on to say that instead of going home for the break, he is working very hard in rehab with the physical therapy department.
“He will be 100% for sure for fall camp,” Elko said, via Ohnysty. “I think he is running. He is here (at A&M) now. He did not go home for a break. He is here continuing to work with our (physical therapy) department. When you go out there and you watch him run, he looks really good right now. We are excited with how that rehab process has gone.”
Who replaced him in 2024, and in practice?

Amari Daniels filled in for the injured Le’Veon Moss as the starting running back for the rest of 2024. Daniels had a solid year, finishing as their second-leading rusher, rushing for 661 yards on 139 attempts and eight touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per attempt and 55.1 yards per game in 12 games. He will compete for the RB2 job during the spring and throughout the fall.
Former five-star recruit Rueben Owens is another candidate for an important running back job this fall. Owens missed the first 11 games of 2024 with a Lisfranc injury but returned for their final two matchups, rushing for 66 yards on 16 attempts. Now that he is healthy, he has a chance to show us why he was a five-star recruit.
