The Houston Texans are showing they care about their offensive line. Offensive Guard Shaq Mason signed a three-year $36 million contract extension Wednesday according to NFL Network Reporter Ian Rapoport.
Mason received $22 million in guaranteed money. According to Spotrac, Mason is scheduled to make $7,500,000 in 2023.
Rookie Quarterback C.J. Stroud gets to play with experienced offensive lineman. Houston’s bookend tackles are Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard. Good offensive line play helps quarterbacks succeed and gain confidence.
Mason allowed three sacks in 2022 with the Buccaneers. Houston allowed 38 sacks in 2022 according to Statmuse.
Mason is a solid offensive lineman who has played winning football. Mason was a constant on an injury-riddle Buccanneers offensive line. Mason played seven seasons in New England. Mason has started 113 games in his career.
