The Houston Texans’ defensive back, Jalen Pitre, converted from safety to full-time nickel cornerback for the 2024 season. Pitre made the most of the position change, breaking out in Year 3. He recorded 65 tackles, six TFLs, one interception, eight pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 12 games before a partially torn pectoral muscle prematurely ended his season.

Jalen Pitre enters the final year of his rookie contract. Due to Proven Performance Escalators, which rewards second to seventh-round picks for playing a significant amount of playing time in their first three years, he is scheduled to earn a $3,656,000 base salary along with a $4,579,079 cap hit in 2025. Finally, since he completed his third regular season, Pitre is eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason, per Article 7, Section 3 (k) (i) of the CBA.

According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Texans and Jalen Pitre have agreed to a lucrative contract. The deal is for three years and is worth roughly $39 million, with $29.156 million guaranteed. His $13 million APY makes him the highest-paid nickel corner in NFL history.
