The Houston Texans, at some point, had to address their weakest position on offense, the offensive line, after a rough year protecting C.J. Stroud and the questionable roster moves over the past two days. On Monday, Houston made the shocking decision to trade elite 5x Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders.  Earlier today, the Texans traded left guard Kenyon Green to the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Texans are set to add Pro Bowl left guard Laken Tomlinson to a one-year, $4.25 million contract worth up to $5 million. Tomlinson, a 33-year-old guard, is on his 5th team and 11th year in the league, with 163 regular season (155 starts) and seven postseason games to his name. He has started 131 consecutive games and has yet to miss a game since Week 2 of 2017.

The New York Jets released Laken Tomlinson last offseason and the Seattle Seahawks signed him to a one-year, $1.21 million, league-minimum contract. Tomlinson bounced back with the Seahawks as his numbers improved from a season ago. He surrendered 38 pressures, 24 hurries, eight QB hits, and six sacks, posting a 65.1 pass-blocking, a 59.7 run-blocking, and a 62.1 overall PFF grade in 2024. He gave up 51 pressures, 34 hurries, ten QB hits, and seven sacks, posting a 60.6 pass-blocking, a 49.6 run blocking, and a 55.0 overall PFF grade in 2023.
