Baltimore Ravens legend linebacker Ray Lewis was one of the greatest linebackers who ever played in the NFL. He won two Super Bowl titles with Baltimore during the 2000 and 2012 seasons.

Lewis started his NFL career in 1996. He was a 13-time pro bowl player, a Super Bowl MVP, a two-time defensive player of the year, and also a seven-time first-team all-pro. Pro Football Focus created its quarter century team and Lewis was named to the team.

Jonathan Macri created his all-quarter century pro football focus football team. At linebacker, he had two players listed. One of them was Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers and the other was Lewis of the Ravens. Macri said about the former Baltimore legend linebacker,

    “(91.8 Career PFF Grade)

Lewis’ career dates back further than PFF grading, beginning in 1996, though he is deserving of making the quarter-century team when projecting the start of his career — five first-team All-Pro appearances and two Defensive Player of the Year awards — to the PFF era.

Once PFF’s grading began, Lewis produced one of the best career grades for the position, ranking among the top five linebackers since 2006. His 2009 season was his best captured by PFF, as he delivered a 91.4 PFF overall grade — the top mark that year and tied for the third-best season all time for the position.”

Some of the other linebackers who were also considered for the quarter century team were Bobby Wagner and former Carolina Panthers legend Luke Kuechly. Lewis played in 228 career games in the NFL. He recorded 2,050 tackles, 41.5 sacks, 19 forced fumbles, 19 fumble recoveries, 31 interceptions, three touchdowns, and 119 pass deflections.

There is no doubt that Lewis is one of the greatest linebackers who ever stepped on an NFL field. He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, and Lewis will always be remembered for playing on the same Ravens teams with Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs in Baltimore, Maryland also.
