As many fans expected, former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. The fact that he was college teammates with two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, as well as the fact that two remain close friends, led many to believe that Alexander would choose the Ravens as his next team following his release from the Packers a little over a week ago.
In addition to seeing Alexander sign with Baltimore, the Green Bay faithful also received word that another one of their former cornerbacks, Robert Rochell, had signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He had previously signed with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason, but was cut during OTAs.
Of course, Alexander and Rochell are not the only two cornerbacks that the Packers lost to free agency this year. Eric Stokes signed with the Las Vegas Raiders while Corey Ballentine is now with the Indianapolis Colts.
Green Bay Packers Fans Are Worried About Cornerback Depth

Last season, Alexander, Stokes, and Ballentine were all key contributors to the Green Bay defense. Or, at least, they were supposed to be. Alexander only played in seven games, Stokes was not the same player he was when he burst onto the scene as a rookie, and Ballentine was a serviceable backup.
In any case, all three made the Packers’ initial 53-man roster to start the 2024 NFL season. And now all three are gone.
And while many believed that cornerback would be one of Green Bay’s biggest areas of focus this offseason, they did little to address it. Nate Hobbs was signed in free agency and Micah Robinson was selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Other than those additions, the Packers have several undrafted free agents and practice squad holdovers from last season competing for a spot on the team.
Oh, and wide receiver Bo Melton.
Rasul Douglas Jokes He Will Not Sign with the Green Bay Packers Because They Have Bo Melton

During mandatory minicamp, it was reported that Bo Melton, who does not have a great shot of making the 53-man roster as a wide receiver, had started working out with the cornerbacks during practice. The Packers’ thought is that since he plays so well on special teams, they could possibly keep him as a sixth cornerback and/or seventh wide receiver, though he would see few snaps at either position.
After Alexander signed with the Ravens, some fans took to social media asking former Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas if he would consider returning to Green Bay. Douglas had a humorous response to one such post:
They got Bo melton

Douglas had previously posted “I don’t think that’s going to happen” in response to an initial question regarding a possible reunion with the Packers.
And while it remains to be seen whether Melton will make the team or not, the fact that he is trying a new position certainly has the league’s attention.
