The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will face off in Week Eight of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday Night Football. The Super Bowl XLV rematch was scheduled for Prime Time presumably because the schedule makers assumed that former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would sign with the Steelers, which he did on Saturday.
The four-time NFL MVP will make $13.65 million on his one-year contract with Pittsburgh, the only team that seriously pursued him in free agency. He can make as much as $19.5 million if he meets certain performance and playing time marks, though what those specific escalators are is not yet known.
Should Rodgers lead the Steelers to victory in Week Eight, he will become just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to earn at least one win against all 32 teams. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre are the only four to have accomplished the feat.
Of course, the man who replaced Rodgers in Green Bay, Jordan Love, is going to be standing in the way trying to prevent that from happening.

Love, of course, was drafted as Rodgers’ heir in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. And while Rodgers was not happy with the Packers organization about the move, he never once took it out on Love.
As fans may recall, Rodgers was infamously treated poorly by his predecessor, Favre, who refused to mentor the young quarterback the way many had hoped. Despite his bitterness towards Green Bay’s front office, Rodgers refused to allow Love to experience the same things he did.
And for that Love is eternally grateful.
When speaking with reporters at the American Family Insurance Championship in Wisconsin, Love told reporters that he is very much looking forward to playing against Rodgers.
“It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be awesome. I’m excited for it,” Love said. “I can’t wait to be on different sides, meeting up, and I know we’ll talk pre-game, things like that. And hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.”
The Week Eight matchup will undoubtedly be one of the highest-viewed games in the NFL this season. It is not often that a player with Rodgers’ pedigree gets to play against his former team.
Regardless of the outcome, it sounds like there is going to be a lot of love on both sides, though.
