Much of the Green Bay Packers’ optimism about a return trip to the Super Bowl in coming years centers around Jordan Love’s lofty ceiling, as well as the young and gifted supporting cast built around him by general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Between the mismatches created by emerging tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft underneath, and the pedigree of receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, the Packers have built a young arsenal that can develop alongside the wunderkind quarterback.
However, one of Love’s top targets has the potential to make an outsized impact this upcoming season, and beyond.
Dontayvion Wicks’ Case as Green Bay Packers’ Breakout Star

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin put together a list of each team’s under-the-radar player who could emerge as a breakout star in 2024, with wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks as his selection for the Packers.
“Insert basically any Packers wideout here,” Benjamin writes for CBS. “And you’d be justified. Quarterback Jordan Love is surrounded by young, mostly unknown but incredibly promising pass catchers. After averaging close to 15 yards per catch as a rookie, Wicks could prove to be his top big-play threat downfield.”
Wicks proved plenty capable of being a burner in a Packers receiving corps that navigated several key injuries throughout 2023.
As a rookie, Wicks caught 39 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns, but could leverage his snaps in key situations with Love as a rookie into an expanded target share in 2024. After all, as Pro Football Focus points out, Love posted a nearly perfect 117.6 passer rating when targeting Wicks last season as the speedy receiver averaged 5.6 yards after the catch per reception.
The stars could be aligning for Wicks to fly under the radar no longer this fall.

They don’t need a # 1 receiver. Spread the ball around. Don’t do what Rodgers did with Adams.
