The Florida State Seminoles football program went 13-0 during the 2023 regular season before being snubbed from the college football playoffs in a surprising event. Florida State lost a bowl game to the Georgia Bulldogs that same season and then everything went south for them ever since.

The Seminoles had a 2024 college football season to forget about, and Seminoles fans wanted head coach Mike Norvell fired. Despite the struggles last season, he is paid a good amount of money and is also a top 10 head coach in the sport. Despite all of this, is there a chance that Florida State could move on from him after the 2025 college football season? The Seminoles have to turn it around in 2025 if they want to please this fanbase.
College Football Analyst Thinks Florida State Seminoles Head Coach Mike Norvell Could Be On Hot Seat If Things Don’t Get Better In 2025

Joel Klatt of Foxsports.com listed a bunch of different head coaches in the college football landscape who will need to produce better results in 2025. In one category, Klatt has it called “we like you, but…” In this category, he has the Seminoles head coach listed in this category. Klatt said about Norvell entering the 2025 college football season,
“After going 13-1 in 2023, Florida State fell on its face and went 2-10 in 2024, becoming the first preseason top 10 team to lose 10 games. He got a massive contract extension between those seasons, so I don’t think Florida State is ready to move off Norvell. However, that’s a wild dropoff.
That’s why I think the game against Miami (Fla.) on Oct. 4 is a really big one for Florida State. FSU fans want to make sure that last season wasn’t a one-year anomaly, where the Seminoles got blown out by the Canes. That game also helps determine the hierarchy of the programs in the state of Florida. Miami has some juice right now, and Florida State needs to prove it can play at that level again. “
If the Seminoles get embarrassed against the Hurricanes once again in 2025, it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction Florida State fans will have. Florida State will also face the Florida Gators the last game of the regular season and the Gators are a team who has the potential to be better than them in 2025.
Even though Florida State will be at home against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 1, Florida State will most likely be massive underdogs in that game. If they can somehow upset Alabama in Week 1, this would be a much-needed win for a football program who struggled during the 2024 college football season. Norvell will be under pressure to get this football program back into the win column for the 2025 season.
