Florida Gators fans hoped their five-star plus freshman quarterback D.J. Lagway would play in today’s conference matchup against the 5th-ranked Texas Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Lagway (hamstring) practiced this week in a limited fashion and warmed up before the game. Unfortunately, he did not play today and would’ve played in an emergency.
The Gators would turn to a redshirt freshman.

The Gators started Aidan Warner for today’s game against the Longhorns. Warner committed to the Yale Bulldogs as a three-star recruit for the 2023 season. After the conclusion of the 2023 season, he redshirted, entered the transfer portal, and transferred to the Gators for the 2024 season.
Warner filled in for the injured Lagway in last week’s 20-34 defeat over the Georgia Bulldogs. He did not play well in relief of the star quarterback, and that was why the close game turned into a two-possession ordeal. He completed seven out of 22 pass attempts for 66 yards and one interception.
His first career start wasn’t any better.
The Florida Gators QB struggled against the Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns blew out the Gators 49-17 as the Longhorns were in complete control of the game. Aidan Warner had a disappointing first career start in the SEC and struggled tremendously with his short throw, intermediate, and deep ball accuracy. He finished the day completing 12 out of 25 pass attempts for 132 yards and two interceptions.
Fans were not pleased with his performance and had some very harsh words to say.

Aidan Warner was never supposed to play meaningful football. He was supposed play in mop up situations and get “Florida QB” on his resume. Then he would resurface in a few years as a coaching prospect just like Brian Schottenheimer.

Clay Millen is worse than this? Aidan Warner decision to throw that ball…..if Millen is really worse than Warner, that is another indictment on Napier for bringing Millen in from the portal. You brought in a guy worse than Warner.
