The Colorado Buffaloes 2023 season might have ended two weeks ago, but that hasn’t stopped head coach Deion Sanders from making headlines around college football. Sanders went viral earlier this week for his belief that his alma mater, Florida State, did not get robbed of a berth in the College Football Playoff. However, the discussion around Sanders has shifted again, with the former NFL superstar turned bench boss telling PEOPLE he wanted more privacy during his first season with the Colorado Buffaloes.

Sanders and the Buffaloes were among the most popular teams this season, dating back to when the former Jackson State frontman took the job last December. Sanders was in the middle of many viral moments this past season, from postgame interviews to exclusive one-on-one discussions and telling the previous year’s team to hit the transfer portal. Naturally, college football fans have taken to social media, mainly Twitter (also known as X), to poke fun at Sanders for his apparent wish for more privacy.

Deion Sanders' son is the one filming everything inside the building and Colorado locker room for the 'Well Off Media' YouTube channel?!
If the Colorado head coach wants more privacy (which he said for a piece IN TIME MAGAZINE) all he has to do is tell his son to stop filming. https://t.co/hnpv1PNiYV pic.twitter.com/MsYEIHCp65

“Prime time” Deion Sanders wanted more privacy? Really? After all he did to INVITE all the attention he & CU we’re receiving? This is an extremely hypocritical statement by him. He lives for attention & now he don’t want it?

Deion Sanders Wanted Less Spotlight During Inaugural Campaign with Buffaloes
Sanders has gone viral again for wanting more privacy during his first season with Colorado, despite his flare for dramatic.
Sanders spoke to PEOPLE, saying, “You always wish that you had a little more privacy… But the same thing that makes you shine will show your blemishes. So, you’ve got to take the good with the bad. You can’t just want everyone there when the hype machine is rolling; you have to understand there’s another side to this.”
The Colorado Buffaloes took the college football world by storm early, winning their first three games of the season, including an upset 45-42 win over the TCU Horned Frogs to open the year. They received national audiences during the season’s first month, including primetime TV matchups against the Oregon Ducks and the USC Trojans at the tail end of September. However, they lost those games by a combined score of 90-47.
Colorado lost six straight games to end the season and finished dead last in the Pac-12 standings. Deion Sanders went viral this offseason for how he approached handling the 2022 rendition of the Buffaloes roster. The NFL Hall of Famer publically claimed he would bring in his talent via the transfer portal, a moment caught on video and shared across social media.
