The Auburn Tigers had a 5-7 overall record and a 2-6 record in SEC play during the 2024 college football season under head coach Hugh Freeze. Auburn has a chance to be one of those teams in 2025 that could potentially surprise people.

The Tigers are a very young football team, and their inexperience showed in 2024. In 2025, Auburn has a chance to improve in the conference. If they do not improve, there is a chance that the fans could be begging for a new head coach. Anyhow, where do the Tigers rank at the wide receiver position entering the 2025 college football season?
Auburn Tigers Wide Receiver Core Ranked Second By PFF Entering 2025 College Football Season

Max Chadwick of pro football focus ranked his top 10 college football wide receiver cores entering the 2025 college football season. To no surprise, the Ohio State Buckeyes were ranked number one, but Chadwick has Auburn as the second-best wide receiver core in college football.
He said about the Tigers wide receiver core,
“The Tigers are the only team with two of my top 10 wideouts in college football. Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton Jr. placed fifth on that list and has track speed. His 1,468 receiving yards since 2023 are the second most among returning Power Four wide receivers, and his 664 receiving yards on deep throws in that stretch are the most.
Cam Coleman slotted in at sixth on that list and came on strong at the end of his true freshman season. The former top-five recruit led the nation with six receiving touchdowns and racked up the sixth-most receiving yards (306) across the final three weeks of the regular season. Expect a massive sophomore breakout for Coleman.
Auburn has three other intriguing second-year receivers in Malcolm Simmons, Perry Thompson and Bryce Cain, in addition to Wake Forest transfer Horatio Fields.”
Coleman caught 37 passes for 598 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 16.2 yards per reception. He has a chance to be one of the breakout names at the wide receiver position in college football during his sophomore season. If Coleman takes the next step and so does this wide receiver room, Auburn will win more than five games in 2025.
They lost a couple of one-possession games last season. Auburn being ranked by pro football focus at the top wide receiver core in the SEC Conference is a surprise. The Texas Longhorns, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Georgia Bulldogs have talent at the wide receiver position, but pro football focus thinks that the Tigers upside at wide receiver for the 2025 season is greater than those other teams.
