The Buffalo Bills chose to strengthen their defense early in the 2025 draft.
While many in Buffalo hoped general manager Brandon Beane would help more targets for quarterback Josh Allen, Beane added CB Maxwell Hairston, DT T.J. Sanders, edge Landon Jackson, DT Deone Walker, and CB Jordan Hancock before taking offensive help in the fifth round.
Brandon Beane didn’t like questions about WRs

During an appearance on WGR 550’s the Jeremy Joe Show, Beane took issue with criticism about his decision not to add a receiver in the first two days of the draft.
“It sounds like 2018 all over with you guys,” Beane said via ESPN. “Well, you guys were (expletive) in 2018 about Josh Allen, you guys wanted Josh Rosen, and now you guys are (expletive) that we don’t have a receiver. I don’t get it. … We just scored 30 points in a row for eight straight games. A year ago, I get you guys asking why we didn’t have receivers, but I don’t understand it now.
“You just saw us lead the league in points, when you add all the postseason, no one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including the Super Bowl champions. So, you just saw us do it without Stefon Diggs, same group. How is this group not better than last year’s group?
“Our job is to score points and win games. Where do we need to get better? Defense. We did that. So, I get it, you got to have a show, and you got to have something to (expletive) about, but (expletive) about wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve heard.”
In fairness to Beane, the Bills drafted Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 draft.
The Buffalo Bills signed Elijah Moore
With the Bills still needing to give receiver help to Allen this offseason, Buffalo signed Elijah Moore to a one-year deal worth $5 million, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
“Browns FA WR Elijah Moore is signing with the #Bills a few days after the NFL Draft, sources say, getting a 1-year deal for $5M max. Another weapon for Josh Allen,” Rapoport posted on X.

The contract feels like an overpay for the Bills after waiting until round seven to take wide receiver Kaden Prather in the seventh round.
Moore caught 61 receptions for 538 yards and a touchdown last season. The second-round pick by the New York Jets in 2021 has 200 receptions for 2,162 yards, and nine touchdowns in his four-year NFL career.
Per OurLads, the Bills top six receivers are Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Moore, Prather, Jalen Virgil, and KJ Hamler.
That receiver corps isn’t going to have many in the Billa Mafia too excited before the preseason. Allen will need to have another MVP-caliber season to put points up on offense.
Buffalo is banking on the defense to do the rest.
