A recent update on former New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees saddened NFL fans. Brees played his last snap in the league during the 2020 season after breaking numerous records for the Saints and the NFL.
Brees’ final season with the Saints was a stark departure from previous years. He didn’t seem to have as much arm strength to push the ball down the field. We have a better reason why after Brees talked about his arm during an appearance on ESPN‘s radio show “Greeny” Wednesday.

Per the transcription by ESPN, Brees said he’d still play in the NFL if he could, but he can’t throw a football with his right arm:
“Look, I’ll let you in on a little fact. I don’t throw with my right arm anymore. My right arm does not work. So, when I throw in the backyard right now, I throw left-handed.”
He said the dislocated shoulder he suffered in 2005 with the San Diego Chargers that almost ended his career “put me on the fast track to a degenerative shoulder and all kind of arthritic changes.”
He added again that he doesn’t throw with his right arm anymore, but “If I could, I would absolutely still be playing.”
NFL fans react to Brees’ arm update

It’s sad to hear Brees’ right arm doesn’t work a few years after retiring from the league. Hopefully, he can have a medical procedure done in the future to help him gain strength in that arm.
Fans reacted to Brees tragic update on social media. Here are the best takes of Brees saying his right arm no longer works.
That’s sad 😞

Important to understand how brainwashed these guys are into sacrificing their bodies (and families) for a sport.

Ovaries watching a NFL game playoff game just cuz it’s not the saints in elaborate a little bit bro
This just in… no, this is not tragic to Saints fans.
Have to agree with you, Jill, and extend it to NFL fans as the reporter intended. This may be tragic to Brees, his fans, relatives, and any money-sucking entourage he may have, but not to the typical fly-by night NFL fans following religiously any of the 32 teams. They may question the move towards a new QB or any other replacement player for a current much-loved star who has lost their luster or been injured to the point of inoperability (Brees by confirmation), but it’s a fleeting question and feeling of hatred towards a head coach for dissing their star that may last about 2 weeks, unless the replacement really doesn’t fill the void.
Brees, if asked if his right arm’s inoperability is tragic news for the fans of the Saints and the NFL, would agree that it isn’t. Disappointing possibly. Only because one would believe that medics now could repair any shoulder injury to near 100% due to all the scanning and surgical technology available. Tragic no. Hell, he’s not gonna die, he just can’t play pitch and catch.
I agree with you. Definitely not tragic and this crazy writer should not freak out Saints fans like this. It’s just mean! I’m not a football fan, my husband is a NO Saints fan. I’m into baseball!
