US President Donald Trump announced a couple of days back that the 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington D.C. at the National Mall. The news was music to Washington Commanders GM, Adam Peters, who expressed his delight on his recent appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.
When McAfee admitted that he expected the 2027 NFL Draft to be completely packed and have a large attendance, Peters dropped a bomb and announced that the event would beat the ‘attendance record’ for any NFL draft.
“Whatever the attendance record is for the NFL Draft, we’re gonna break it,” Adam Peters said about the NFL 2027 draft in his appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.

President Donald Trump’s words were also echoed by Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, who admitted that the NFL is eager to bring the draft to Washington D.C. and market it as a ‘marquee’ event for thousands of guests.
The current POTUS is known for being a crazy NFL fan. This February, President Trump became the first sitting US president to attend a Super Bowl. President Donald Trump not only attended the Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, but also supported and cheered for the Eagles who ended up winning the trophy.
President Donald Trump Called ‘Ultimate Commander’ By Commanders Owner
After he announced that the 2027 NFL Draft would take place in Washington D.C., President Donald Trump was given a new name by Josh Harris, who is the owner of the Washington Commanders team. Harris called the POTUS an ‘Ultimate Commander’ and gave him a custom Commanders jersey, much to the president’s delight.
The Washington Commanders showed plenty of promise in the 2024 NFL season, finishing second in the NFC East with 12 wins and five defeats. However, they were eventually defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles at the NFC Championship with a whopping 55-23. The team will hope to do much better in the upcoming season and with this recent announcement by President Donald Trump, the team is sure to have much more energy under their wings.
After making the announcement of the 2027 NFL draft, President Trump also answered questions about security measures that would be taken during the draft if such a large crowd was to be expected. He further praised the new venue in which the draft would be conducted, calling it the perfect place for handling large events of this kind.
