Did President Donald Trump really endorse Stephen A. Smith as a presidential candidate for 2028? Or is it some kind of play that Trump is setting up as early as now? This is the idea that analyst and critic Jason Whitlock weighed on in one of his recent videos.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” guest host and former NFL star TJ Moe gave his honest thoughts on the endorsement that Donald Trump gave for Stephen A. Smith to run for president in 2028.
For Moe, Trump’s ‘endorsement” is more of him playing Stephen A. Smith to be pit against JD Vance.
“I had the same thought. Trump’s baiting him, it’s no different than what I heard yesterday,” Moe said. “Beto O’Rourke came out and said, ‘If the people of Texas want me to run for the Senate, I will run.” And I’m like, “Yes, I will donate and contribute to your campaign because it will guarantee another conservative maintains Texas.’ That’s what I think Donald Trump’s doing here.”
“He’s not stupid. Trump hasn’t said it out loud yet, but it seems very clear to me he’s handpicked JD Vance, who’s the greatest articulator of the MAGA ideas that has ever existed, [he] has handpicked him to be next. He’s leading on all the polls. And so, yes, would you like JD Vance matched up in a debate with an unhinged, totally uninformed Stephen A. Smith to embarrass the Democratic party?”
“Yes, that would be a dream scenario.”

Donald Trump Endorses Stephen A. Smith For President in 2028
Donald Trump has stirred political speculation by expressing his support for Stephen A. Smith as a potential 2028 presidential candidate. During a NewsNation town hall, Trump stated that he would “love to see” Smith run for office, praising his charisma, intelligence, and ability to engage audiences.

The endorsement came after former Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly first suggested the idea, prompting Trump to highlight Smith’s entertainment skills and broad appeal. Trump’s remarks immediately sparked discussions about whether Smith, a well-known sports analyst, could transition into the political arena.

Smith has been openly critical of both Democratic and Republican leadership, arguing that the country needs bold and decisive leadership. He revealed that elected officials and business leaders have approached him about forming an exploratory committee, urging him to consider a campaign.
With his endorsement of Smith, President Donald Trump has stirred curiosity and debate on his real intentions and real take on the matter.
