The Vanderbilt Commodores finished the 2024 regular season with a 6-6 record and also won a bowl game. Vanderbilt put themselves on the map in the college football landscape when they pulled the shocking upset against the Alabama Crimson Tide and almost upset the Texas Longhorns the following week.

The Commodores are looking to reach new heights in 2025 and someway somehow quarterback Diego Pavia is back for another season with the program. Vanderbilt may not be a playoff team in 2025, but there is a chance that the Commodores will not be an easy game for anybody, especially when SEC Conference plays begins.
Best-Case Scenario For the Vanderbilt Commodores Could Be a 9-3 Season Because Of Quarterback Diego Pavia

The Commodores are looking to build off the success they had during the 2024 college football season. Brad Crawford of CBS Sports thinks that there is a world where Vanderbilt’s best-case scenario is finishing with a 9-3 record during the 2025 college football season. Crawford said,
“Diego Pavia has provided plenty of bulletin board material for opposing teams this fall after being granted another year of eligibility. Clark Lea has to love that level of confidence out of his quarterback, but it’s a bit scary, too. If Vanderbilt wins both of its road games against Virginia Tech and South Carolina in September, this team will be inside the top 20 going to Alabama on Oct. 9. That’s a tall ask considering the Commodores have lost 16 straight to the Gamecocks. What will Tennessee look like without Iamaleava at quarterback? Perhaps that’s a rivalry matchup the Commodores can steal at the end of the campaign.”
Pavia during the 2024 season with Vanderbilt completed 59.4% of his passes for 2,293 yards, 20 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed for 800 yards on 193 carries and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Pavia is 6’0″ and weighs 200 lbs. This will most likely be his final season with the Commodores football program.
He is a dual-threat quarterback that will cause headaches for other defensive coordinators. Pavia may not be the best quarterback in the SEC Conference, but he will give the Commodores a fighting chance every week. Vanderbilt will have tough games on the road in 2025 against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Alabama, Texas, and archrivals the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Commodores also will face the LSU Tigers at home as well. There is a chance that Vanderbilt could steal one of those games. It is a tall ask for them to go 9-3 in 2025. Another 6-6 season and a bowl game are more realistic for this football program.
