Dez Bryant is back in the headlines—this time, not for his athletic feats, but for his reaction to the NFL’s latest Pride Month campaign.
As the league launched its annual Pride initiative with a bold video stating phrases like “Football is gay,” “Football is queer,” and “Football is transgender,” Bryant took to social media to weigh in. While the former Dallas Cowboys star expressed support for inclusivity, he criticized the phrasing of the campaign.
“Football is gay. Football is queer. Football is transgender.. these are wild statements to make.. excuse my silliness. I’m going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against Gays, but this is far from right,” said Dez Bryant in a now-viral post.
His remarks sparked immediate discussion across social media, with some agreeing that the message could have been delivered more carefully, while others felt Bryant missed the point of the campaign entirely. The NFL, however, continues to champion diversity and has long partnered with advocacy groups like GLAAD and The Trevor Project to promote equality within the sport.

Dez Bryant among other candidates for the College Football Hall of Fame
While Dez Bryant may be making waves for his opinion on the NFL’s Pride messaging, he’s also making news for something more celebratory. The former All-Pro receiver has officially been named to the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot.

Bryant was a standout at Oklahoma State University, where he played three electric seasons and earned national recognition for his elite talent and athleticism. If inducted, he would become the seventh OSU player to receive the honor, joining legendary names like Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, and Justin Blackmon.

Despite his short stints with the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens after leaving the Cowboys, Dez Bryant remains a major figure in football, both for his play and his personality. His opinions, whether agreed with or not, continue to spark conversation in and around the sport.
