The pain of missing out on a Super Bowl appearance is still fresh in the minds of the Detroit Lions. While fans are happy that they can feel disappointed over their team’s playoff defeat, they would still rather be playing in the Super Bowl.
Josh Reynolds is in the middle of the storm due to his drops, and he didn’t immediately address the issue. However, he finally spoke up on the botched receptions that probably cost his team the chance to compete for a Super Bowl.
Detroit Lions’ Reynolds says dropped catches were down to luck
According to The Spun’s Andrew Gould, Reynolds didn’t talk to any member of the media until Monday. When he did speak up on the drops, he did not bring up any grand excuse for his drops.
“[Expletive] happens, man,” Reynolds said Monday. “I know what kind of player I am. Didn’t want to drop them. [Expletive] happens. I just — do I want those back? Of course, but I can’t, and I just got to work this offseason and be prepared for the moment when it comes.”
Reynolds had a game to forget at Levi’s Stadium. Jared Goff targeted him four times, only making one catch for 25 yards. It was a disappointing day for the Lions’ WR2 who notched 608 receiving yards and 5 TDs during the regular season.
Josh Reynolds hopes for redemption with the Lions
Reynolds may be blamed by some heartbroken Detroit Lions fans for his drops. However, he maintained that none of his teammates were blaming him for the loss.
He’s also entering the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. He hopes Dan Campbell would be bringing him back to help the team have another go for the Lombardi.
He insists that he learned his lessons from the loss and will be using the drops as motivation for next season:
“It’s something you learn throughout the years playing this game cause if you’re sitting here sulking on the bad, it’s hard to have good come out of it,” Reynolds said. “Ultimately, you’ve just got to learn from it, take it as a learning lesson, take it on the chin, and move on.”
Hopefully, he’ll be moving on with a Detroit Lions jersey still on.
