The Detroit Lions have always been an intriguing option for Lamar Jackson. The holdup was twofold. One, would the team actually want Jackson with Jared Goff playing so well last season? Second, does Jackson actually want to leave Baltimore? We got the answer to the second question today as Jackson revealed he asked for a trade on March 2nd. After the news came out, Detroit Lions fans reacted to the news.
Detroit Lions Fans React To Lamar Jackson News
The reviews are mixed. On the one hand, Jackson is a former MVP who is electric when he is on the field. He has taken a subpar Ravens roster and made them look good. The Lions already have a bunch of talent in place and it would raise the ceiling of that team if they landed Jackson. These fans agree that the Lions should give it a look.

Not all fans agree that this is the right move. Some really feel that Goff is the answer for the offense and others do not want to mortgage the future for Jackson.
Stop this Lamar Jackson to the Detroit Lions nonsense. I’ll take Jared Goff thank you. #OnePride

The fan base really likes what this team is building and with the no. 6 and 18 pick in the draft, the Lions can add more top-level talent to an already talent-rich team.
The Case For Going For It
I’ll state my case for going for it with Lamar Jackson. The NFC is weak this season. Stop what you’re doing right now and try to name the top five quarterbacks in the NFC right now. After Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott it gets pretty murky. I would put Goff on that list and then who? Kirk Cousins? Matthew Stafford? Daniel Jones? Brock Purdy? If the Lions had Jackson, it would immediately put them as one of the favorites, if not the favorite, to come out of the NFC.
Ultimately, the good news for the Lions is that they are in a good position either way. If they get Lamar, awesome! If not, they can roll with Goff who had an excellent season last year and knows the offense well. It’s a tough decision and one the fan base is divided on. This saga is one of the most intriguing in the NFL off-season and it will be interesting to hear what team ultimately signs him.
