Deebo Samuel’s shocking weight gain is all anyone in the NFL can talk about in discussion forums. The wide receiver was recently spotted at the Washington Commanders training camp, where he looked like he definitely added a few more pounds to the scale this offseason. Several NFL analysts have cast doubt on Samuel’s performance in the upcoming football season, saying that his weight gain is going to topple his career.
One ex-NFL player who has come out in criticism of Deebo Samuel’s weight was retired Philadelphia Eagles defensive end, Brandon Graham. Graham can be seen ridiculing Samuel as a threat in the next football season in a viral video clip shared first on Instagram by Jankyrondo.

Deebo Samuel has struck a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders for a guaranteed sum of $17 million. However, Samuel definitely has to prove himself in the upcoming NFL season if he hopes to play for the team long-term.
Samuel has only played for the San Francisco 49ers in his entire NFL career and the Commanders will definitely be a different playing ground. However, the wide receiver seems pretty confident of bringing out the big guns for the Commanders in the 2025 NFL season. Samuel and the Commanders will kick off their 2025 campaign with a showdown against the New York Giants in Week 1.
Deebo Samuel’s Training Camp Video Clip Defended By Former Teammate
It is not only Deebo Samuel’s sudden weight gain that took many by surprise, but also a viral video clip from the Commanders training camp a couple of weeks back. In the clip, Samuel can be seen moving pretty slowly compared to his previous form. For this, the wide receiver amassed plenty of criticism from both NFL analysts and fans online.
However, George Kittle, Samuel’s former teammate with the 49ers, rose to his defense and remarked that the wide receiver is indeed one of the most highly talented wide-outs in the league today. Kittle also went on to highlight that Samuel is truly ‘unique’ and the short clip cannot actually justify his performance on a whole.
San Francisco 49ers fans were definitely upset to see Deebo Samuel leave, especially since the wide receiver himself requested a trade. Samuel reasoned that he simply wanted a ‘fresh start’ in his NFL career and is hoping that the Commanders can provide exactly this.
