David Montgomery, running back for the Detroit Lions, is expected to be back in play for the divisional round in the third week of January, as per recent reports from head coach, Dan Campbell. Montgomery was left with an injury in a game between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills last December and has not played a game since then.

Since then, the Detroit Lions finished the season at the top of the NFC North after winning 15 games and losing two. In their last game of the regular season, the Lions played against the Minnesota Vikings and won the game with a final score of 31-9.

In the most recent NFL season, Montgomery has contributed a total of 135 carries for the Detroit Lions for 775 yards, scoring 12 touchdowns before his injury. As per Tim Twentyman, a Detroit Lions insider, Coach Campbell is positive that David Montgomery will be ready to play after the first week of playoffs.

On the other hand, David Montgomery has always been waiting to get back on the field after being injured in the game against the Buffalo Bills. Montgomery has since then been undergoing extensive rehab for his MCL injury with the help of numerous physicians and specialists. In fact, Montgomery has reportedly turned down surgery and opted for rehab so that he can be back on the field in no time.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are savoring their amazing performance this season, even though David Montgomery might not have played the last few games. The Lions played the season with Dan Campbell leading the way, completing his fourth year as head coach, while Brad Holmes enjoyed yet another season as general manager.

In terms of offense, the Lions leaned heavily on running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who completed 250 carries in total for 1,412 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns for the team. Quarterback Jared Goff also put up an impressive performance this season with a total of 4,629 yards, scoring 37 touchdowns along with 12 interceptions.

As of now, the Lions will enjoy a bye week and will also enjoy the home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Since 1957, the Detroit Lions will be making their first appearance at the Super Bowl. Top NFL analysts have been reporting that the Lions will be strong contenders this postseason, with their remarkable squad on both ends.
