David Montgomery, running back for the Detroit Lions, seems to be a man with a plan for the upcoming NFL season. Montgomery, who has been with the team since the 2023 season, wants to be seen in this upcoming football season, according to recent comments to press reporters.

Both Montgomery and the Detroit Lions are eager to outdo their numbers from the previous season. The Lions have not lifted the Lombardi Trophy for decades together and Montgomery, among other players, are getting antsy about failing time and time again.

“This is probably the hungriest that I have been because I feel like a lot of people kind of forget that I’m here in the offense, too. So, I’m not here to prove anybody wrong. I’m here to prove myself right and be the best teammate that I can be. But I’ve definitely got a big chip on my shoulder.” David Montgomery said about the next season with the Detroit Lions as reported by Eric Woodyward from ESPN.

In the 2025 NFL season, the Lions are expected to heavily lean on running back Jahmyr Gibbs. However, David Montgomery is loudly and proudly announcing that Gibbs is not the only running back with the team and that he is also eager to perform. Montgomery managed a total of 12 touchdowns in the previous season and will be hoping to churn out better numbers in the 2025 campaign.

David Montgomery Predicts Detroit Lions To Win In Upcoming Season

In the same conversation with Eric Woodyard, running back David Montgomery also remarked that the 2025 NFL season would be the year that the Lions win the Super Bowl. Montgomery confessed to being tired of getting so close to the Super Bowl, but not managing to actually get up there and lift the trophy. According to the running back, other Detroit Lions players also feel the same way.

“Everybody’s tired of being close. It’s cool to be close at first, but you don’t want to get comfortable with being close all the time. That’s not what you want to be known for, especially when you know you’ve got the guys, you’ve got on this team.” David Montgomery said.

The Detroit Lions will again be looking up to starting quarterback Jared Goff to lead their offense in the upcoming season. After making several crucial offseason moves, the Lions roster looks a lot stronger to compete in the upcoming NFL season.
