According to Over the Cap, the Giants had just over $5.4 million in cap space before the restructure. So the Giants should have close to $12 million before Week 1 of the regular season.
The move hints the Giants plan to be aggressive in adding talent to the roster this season. The Giants could add help via free agency or wait to make a trade near the deadline. The Giants have been rumored to be a team that would be interested in Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans.
The Giants didn’t make this move just because. They cleared cap space to bring in a star to help better their playoff run chances this season.
