Running a brand like the NFL is no easy task. Not only will you have to manage the expectations of the owners who run their respective franchises, but you also have to make sure the product you’re delivering is actually up to the increasingly high standards of the average football fan.
Roger Goodell is not having an easy time when it comes to running the league to deliver football games everyone can enjoy. To some, it may seem like his job is a solitary one, something that he and only he can fully understand what it’s like.
While it’s true in most cases, some individuals can understand the struggles he’s going through. One of those kindred spirits is UFC head honcho Dana White.
Dana White thinks the NFL is doing well
White made a guest appearance on Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby’s podcast. They talked about various things in the episode, but the conversation naturally veered toward how Roger Goodell has been running the top professional football league in the United States.

The brains behind the world’s biggest MMA brand thinks that the league is doing just fine, as reported by Sports Illustrated’s Carter Landis:
“There’s always going to be critics and criticism of anybody who’s out there in the public and making decisions that people love and people don’t like,” he said. “It’s just always going to be that way. In no way, shape, or form do I want to take on running the NFL or any of those things. I live in my own little world here; I do it my way. I don’t have to answer to anybody; I can do what I want to do. I wouldn’t change one thing. I’m happy where I’m at; I have no aspirations of going to the NFL, Major League Baseball, NHL, or anywhere else. I don’t criticize any of those guys and how they run their business. The NFL is doing pretty well. They’re doing okay.”
Dana White understands how cutthroat sports can become. On his end, there are plenty of other MMA promotions that are trying to bring his UFC down. Asia’s ONE Fighting Championship and Europe’s Bellator are popular examples of this.
Meanwhile, the NFL doesn’t have any direct competition. However, competitors like the XFL have brought new dimensions to the game that are garnering attention. Moreover. the league is also introducing measures that may or may not sit well with fans.

Regardless of all that, White stills sees the National Football League as a great sports brand and is praising Goodell and his team for continuously raising the bar.
