A lot of the Ducks’ success has been due to head coach Dan Lanning, who is now in his third season with the team and has them in a perfect spot to win it all this upcoming January.
After the game against Maryland ended, the 38-year-old head coach held a postgame press conference and was asked a question about Tuesday night’s presidential election.
Donald Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States, beating current Vice President Kamala Harris, and many people want to know what side of the fence they were in this year’s election.
Dan Lanning Doesn’t Want To Get Into Politics
The reporter asked Lanning, “I believe it was last year you spoke out about gun violence, “There was a decision made in this country that I’m sure affects a lot of players in your locker room as well as the women in your life and the women on your staff.
“What was sort of the temperature in the locker room or with your team as a whole after the results were in, and was that something that sparked one of those ‘get real’ conversations?”
Lanning answered back, stating, “Gun violence is something I have been passionate about, but our guys just line up and go to work every single day, and I’m glad to be in the country we are in, certainly proud to be an American, and excited about the future of this country. I’m not one to hop into politics.”
The question seemed set up for Lanning to take a shot at the election’s outcome, but the Oregon head coach took the high road with his answer and avoided discussing any political arguments happening in the country.
Lanning just wants to do what he is good at, which is coaching football and winning on Saturdays, and he wants to avoid all the crazy things happening in the world.
