Ohio State and Oregon have started their little rivalry now that the Ducks have entered the Big Ten, and the newcomer has beaten the king of the Midwest.
The Buckeyes were the class of the Big Ten for the last twenty years before Michigan went on a tremendous three-year run from 2021 to 2023. However, the Wolverines fell off significantly this season, and Ohio State was supposed to take back control of the conference.
Ohio State Loses To Oregon Again
Sadly, Oregon has become Ohio State’s new conference rival. A few months ago, the Buckeyes traveled to Eugene to play the Ducks in an epic thriller, which resulted in Ohio State’s loss by a point.
Oregon would remain unbeaten, beat Michigan, and win the Big Ten title, two things Ohio State hasn’t done since 2019. While Dan Lanning and his team are sitting at home with a first-round playoff BYE, he is stealing players who are very interested in the Buckeyes.
Thieneman was Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023, and this season, he was an honorable mention All-Big Ten. He will stay in the conference but play for the new top dawg.
Lanning has become the coach everyone wants to play for in college football. Players who would’ve gone to play for Ryan Day three years ago are now changing their minds and wanting to play for the fabulous Oregon team.
One Ohio State fan was unhappy that Day lost again to Lanning and stated, “Dan Lanning relentlessly keeps stuffing Ryan Day in a locker.”

Day had better figure out how to beat Michigan and then how to compete with Oregon on and off the field, or his days in Columbus would soon be numbered.
Ohio State could meet Oregon in the playoffs if the Buckeyes win their first-round matchup with Tennessee this weekend, and the Buckeyes could get their revenge.
