Ryan Day probably hasn’t gotten any sleep the last six nights after he couldn’t find the win column again, losing to Michigan for the fourth time.
Even though Ohio State will make the playoffs and is in a good position to make a postseason run, many fans still want the 45-year-old head coach fired. In many fans’ eyes, losing to Michigan is more important than winning a title.
Ryan Day Could Be Back With Ohio State In 2025

Ohio State will find it difficult to let go of Day if they make a deep playoff run, and one ESPN analyst who covers the Big Ten closely thinks there is a chance Day will be back next season.
ESPN’s Jake Trotter was on ESPN Cleveland Friday and stated, “If they go on a playoff run, I think he’s got a chance to come back.”

Trotter discussed the likelihood of Day’s firing and even mentioned other main points, such as that it is hard to fire a coach in the NIL era with a large buyout and put together a roster.
Even if Ohio State loses in the first round, there is still a chance Day won’t be shown the door. The only opportunity for the Buckeyes to get a new head coach is if Day leaves on his own, which could happen since there is some interest between him and the NFL.
Ohio State fans better pray that their team wins it all because a lot of them will be angry if they don’t reach the promise land and Day walks back through the door next season.
