The Dallas Cowboys did not take a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL draft. But they had just gotten one via a stunning trade that saw them acquire George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday. The Cowboys also received a sixth-round pick in 2027 while sending a third-rounder in 2026 and a fifth-rounder in 2027 to the Steelers.
After the trade, the Cowboys shared an Instagram post featuring wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s then-cryptic tweet around the time rumors of the trade were starting to take off. It also included a photo of Pickens and Lamb meeting on the field after a game.
Of course, fans had a lot to say about Dallas’ post, with many unable to contain their excitement for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, as the Cowboys shored up their wide receiver room with a weapon that’s amassed 2,841 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons in the pros.

Now with a team that has a much more stable quarterback situation than the one in Pittsburgh, Pickens seems excited to start working with his new team on the field, particularly with Lamb.
Via CBS Sports’ Patrik Walker:
“It excites me a lot. In the game of football, we can work off of each other. And that’s why it comes back to building a winning culture.”
