Tributes from Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans fans celebrate Mark Lane’s life
Mark Lane was a long-time writer who covered both the Cowboys and Texans despite constantly battling for his life. After it was announced that he passed away, people within the Texas sports media community gave their tributes to a hardworking writer.
The Spun’s Andrew Holleran wrote about his passing and jotted down a statement from one of his closest colleagues:
Veteran NFL reporter John McClain shared the tragic news.
“Condolences to Mark Lane’s family, friends and co-workers. A lot of people in Texas and Arkansas will miss him. He came to the combine last year even though he had to use oxygen because of his breathing issues. Mark was always a super-hard worker who loved covering the NFL,” he reported.
Trubutes immediately poured for the reporter, who is well-liked and regarded for his journalistic approach. Blogging The Boys, a publication dedicated to following the Dallas Cowboys, posted about his passing:
Mark Lane was a beloved member of the Dallas Cowboys community and covered them at large. He had an incredible passion, work ethic and sense of humility. May he rest in peace. https://t.co/UjOoCdpnij pic.twitter.com/PUsxk6JHw1

John Crumpler of the Texans Wire also gave a heartfelt tribute to Lane:
I really don’t have enough words today.
Mark Lane took a shot on a rising college senior and proceeded to become a big brother to me over the last 5 years.
There were few who worked harder or consistently led with prayer and kindness the way he did.
