Dallas Cowboys: Elevated an EDGE Rusher With 27 Career Sacks for Game Day

The 1-2 Dallas Cowboys play against their division rival, the 1-2 New York Giants, on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium. The Cowboys look to bounce back after their fourth-quarter comeback stalled in the Baltimore Ravens’ last drive to ice the game, losing 25-28. The Cowboys’ defense did not play well, allowing 24 first downs, 456 total yards, including 274 rushing and 182 passing, and a 34:45 time of possession.

They released their final injury report yesterday, and their defensive starter popped up on the injury report.

DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a shoulder injury at some point but managed to toughen it out and play 51 out of 63 defensive snaps in Week 3. The Cowboys conducted a walkthrough on Monday and practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday. Lawrence was a limited participant on Monday and Tuesday but upgraded to a full participant on Wednesday. He doesn’t have an injury designation, meaning he will play.

In case of an emergency, they elevated a veteran EDGE rusher.

According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys elevated two defensive players from the practice squad to the active roster for game day. Carl Lawson was one of the two players they elevated. As Harris points out, this is Lawson’s second game-day elevation for the 2024 season, and they can elevate him one more time. They must sign him to the active roster if they elevate him for the fourth time.
