The Dallas Cowboys need a plan for their quarterback situation
The Dallas Cowboys were a few plays away from heading to the NFC Championship Game. But the team couldn’t rally in their fourth quarter to take the lead away from the San Francisco 49ers in their Divisional Round game. Quarterback Dak Prescott received much of the blame after the loss. The Cowboys CEO spoke at the NFL Combine about their plans for the quarterback position.

According to Todd Archer with ESPN, Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones talked about Prescott’s contract. The Cowboys could create cap space by extending Prescott. Jones thinks they need to extend the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback:
“We’ve got to have a plan to ultimately extend Dak,” Jones said.
Jones believes the Cowboys have a high-level defense highlighted by coordinator Dan Quinn, edge player Micah Parsons, cornerback Trevon Diggsand defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. On offense, they have questions either through the cap or free agency that they have to answer, with the likes of running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, tackle Tyron Smith and tight end Dalton Schultz.
“Offensively, we’ve just got to have, maybe add a playmaker to it,” Jones said. “Add a little juice. Add a playmaker to it and see if we can do that.”

The Dallas Cowboys missed wide receiver Amari Cooper last season after he was traded to the Cleveland Browns. The Cowboys have a stacked running back room, but they could use another playmaker to help free up CeeDee Lamb in 2023. That would help Prescott look more like the Pro Bowl part.
