Dabo Swinney Could Be Leaving Clemson To Join A Dominant SEC School In 2025 In A Move Which Makes Sense For Both Great Parties

Dabo Swinney has been one of the best coaches in college football for the past decade, winning two National Championships and being right behind Alabama’s former head coach, Nick Saban, as the best coach in the sport. However, the last three years have been difficult for Swinney, and there is a good chance that if 2024 doesn’t go well, he could be on the move next year.

Clemson Is In The ACC, Which Will Cause Problems Down The Road

Clemson football Coach Dabo Swinney talks about Early National Letter of Intent Signing Day in the Smart Family Media Center December 20, 2023.

In college football, we are used to the five power conferences: ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, PAC-12, and SEC. However, starting in 2024, the PAC-12 lost every team but Washington State and Oregon State. The Big Ten and SEC both added the best teams from the PAC-12 and Big 12 conferences. The Big Ten will add Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Washington from the PAC-12, and the SEC will add Big 12 schools Texas and Oklahoma.

The ACC added PAC-12 schools, such as Stanford and California, and American Conference school SMU, but the ACC will be behind the SEC and Big Ten regarding revenue and ratings.

The Big Ten has its own thing going on regarding television. They are part of FOX, CBS, and NBC, getting games on Big Noon Kickoff on Fox, the 3:30 PM ET game on CBS, and the NBC primetime game. As for the SEC, they are the new face of ESPN, where most of their great games will be the main thing on the network.

Currently, Clemson is not in a great spot as part of the ACC, and there have been rumors that schools like them, Florida State and North Carolina, are trying to leave and join either the Big Ten or SEC.

Dabo Swinney will have a chance to leave the ACC next season, and a big-time job could open up next year in the SEC.

Could Dabo Swinney Head To The Florida Gators

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney signals to go for a two-point conversion against Kentucky during the fourth quarter of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, Friday, December 29, 2023. Clemson won 38-35.

The Florida Gators are going into a critical season under third-year head coach Billy Napier. He has yet to have a winning record in his first two seasons, and there is a great chance that if he fails to do it again this season, he will no longer be coaching the Gators in 2025.

Florida could give Dabo Swinney a call next year, and getting one of the best coaches in the sport would be a great thing for the program.

It seems like Swinney wants out of Clemson, and even ESPN SEC host Paul Finebaum stated last week about the Tigers coach: ” People who graduated from Clemson, people who are Clemson fans, they don’t think Dabo Swinney is going to be there a long time. When I say a long time, I mean 3 to 5 years. I think his time is nearly up.”

Maybe Swinney’s time at Clemson is up, and if it does happen soon, Florida would be a great place for him to try to bring the program back to what it was when it had head coach Urban Meyer and Quarterback Tim Tebow in the mid-2000s.

The so-called power conferences are fouling up college football and for good. The SEC, for instance, has no need for either TX or OK, and these schools will fail completely in a conference that will give no one team the advantages of smaller conferences with yearly games between natural rivalries that will soon cease to exist. Greed will prove to be the Midas touch for all the overstocked powerhouses.

“Rumors” that FSU and Clemson are trying to leave the ACC.
They’re in a court case to get out.
      More than a rumor.
