“Structure Is Still Unknown”: Courtland Sutton’s Mega Contract Could Complicate Terry McLaurin’s Payday, Says NFL Insider

Courtland Sutton, wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, managed to score a pretty juicy deal for himself as his agent negotiated a whopping $92 million contract extension with the team recently. While the news is certainly great for Sutton, it does not necessarily spell good news for another wide receiver in the league, Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders, according to insider Ari Meirov.

It is common knowledge that McLaurin is also trying to bag an extension with the Commanders and is asking for $30 million every year. Sutton and McLaurin are pretty much similar in their stats, but the latter may have a slight upper hand. Still, when Sutton’s deal stands at $23 million per year, the Commanders may strongly be against doling out a lot more money for McLaurin to stay on board their roster.

“The structure is still unknown, but Courtland Sutton’s new deal could complicate things for Terry McLaurin, who’s been seeking over $30M per year. Both are the same age and serve as their team’s No. 1 wideout. Sutton lands at $23M per year — though McLaurin has been more productive across the board.” Ari Meirov spoke about Courtland Sutton’s extension affecting Terry McLaurin’s prospective one with the Commanders.

Meanwhile, Courtland Sutton will be enjoying his time on the Denver Broncos roster as he savors his whopping deal with the team. Sutton and the Broncos will soon kick off their 2025 NFL campaign with a matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.

Courtland Sutton’s Extension News Was Broken To Bo Nix By Dianna Russini

Courtland Sutton signing a massive contract extension with the Denver Broncos means plenty to quarterback Bo Nix. However, Nix himself got to know the news about Sutton’s extension while he was in conversation with sports reporter Dianna Russini. Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton have a pretty strong on-field relationship with each other. The quarterback told Russini that he is definitely “excited” for Sutton.

“You just know what you’re going to get out of him, he’s so consistent. …And now year two with me and year three in this system, he’s set up for a great year. Coming off last year, he’s really healthy. Excited for him.” Bo Nix said about Sutton’s extension.

Courtland Sutton and Bo Nix will be teaming up once more to see if they can bring a better record for the Denver Broncos in the upcoming season. The Broncos will be definitely eager to get closer to the playoffs, unlike the previous campaign when they only made it to the Wild Card round.
