The Colorado football team played tough on Saturday but ultimately fell at home to the 18th-ranked Kanas State Wildcats. The Colorado Buffaloes, specifically quarterback Shedeur Sanders, put on an offensive clinic, throwing for 388 yards and three touchdowns on 34-of-40 passing. However, one interception and a last-second incompletion on 4th down sank Colorado, as they will enter next week’s road tilt against Arizona with a 4-2 record. However, one more win this season will mark an upsurge from last season and a 500% increase from their one-win campaign in 2022. Nevertheless, last weekend’s loss might have spelled the end of one offensive lineman’s tenure with the school after a short six-game stint with the program.
On an Instagram live feed following Colorado football’s narrow 41-38 loss, three-star prospect and backup center Yakiri Walker commented that he would transfer for the second time in as many years. Walker currently holds the backup center spot per Ourlads.

The Yakiri Walker era with Colorado football has likely ended before it started. Following Saturday’s defeat against the K-State Wildcats, Walker posted that he no longer plays for the team despite having his name on the team’s official roster. A three-star recruit in the class 2021, Walker began his career with the UConn Huskies before landing with the Colorado Buffaloes this offseason. The center joined Colorado with two seasons of eligibility and played 34 games across the past three seasons.
Walker’s likely departure will have little impact on the current status of the team’s offensive line. Walker has not seen action this season despite Colorado’s consistent struggles to develop a rushing attack or keep quarterback Shedeur Sanders upright. Heading into next weekend, the Buffaloes remain dead last among Big 12 schools regarding rushing yards per game and rushing yards per attempt.
