The Iowa Hawkeyes had a 24-14 lead in the third quarter of their college football matchup on Monday against the No. 19 Missouri Tigers.
The Hawkeyes’ lead would slowly dissipate through the fourth quarter until the Tigers would win the TransPerfect Music City Bowl 27-24 in front of 43,375 fans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Iowa missed a chance to put a tally on the board for the Big 10 conference in their rivalry with the SEC.
Iowa football had calls go against them in Missouri football’s win
Some fans thought the officials were showing clear bias for Missouri during the contest, with the Tigers getting away with a few plays that should have been called for holding.
Missouri scored their game-tying field goal on a drive that was allowed to continue on a questionable call. Hawkeyes defensive back Quinn Schulte was called for unnecessary roughness (late hit) on what was a third down and 20 at the Missouri 36-yard line.

The Tigers were given a first down at the Hawkeyes 36-yard line. They would kick a field goal four plays later from the Iowa 34-yard line.
Fans on social media were frustrated by the calls helping an SEC team.
College football fans disagreed with multiple calls.
“That ‘late hit’ call against Iowa was the worst piece of officiating since the Cooper DeJean ‘fair catch,'” wrote a fan.
“With all the sports wagering, some of these refs are self-dealing. That is the weakest late hit call I have ever seen. It handed the game to Missouri,” posted another.
Lined offsides and then grabbed the facemask of Iowa's QB on the last play, both uncalled 🙄 https://t.co/pgIUx9376u pic.twitter.com/tT1dcUpUiM
