The Texas Longhorns went to the college football playoffs semifinals for the second straight season before losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes by a final score of 28-14. Texas fans felt like head coach Steve Sarkisian should have went with Arch Manning at quarterback this season instead of Quinn Ewers.
Texas finished with a 13-3 record and they hope to have a great team again next season. The Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs could very well be the two best teams again in the SEC Conference next season. It is going to be a very big offseason for the Longhorns.
Texas Longhorns Ranked #5 In Latest Way Too Early Top 25 Poll
Yahoo sports writer Nick Bromberg created his way too early Top 25 poll for the upcoming 2025 college football season. He has the Texas Longhorns ranked number five for next year. Bromberg said:
“Arch Manning will be the most talked- and written-about player in college football ahead of the 2025 season now that he takes over as the Longhorns’ starter. Texas lost a lot of talent to the NFL Draft, but there’s plenty of depth as players like WR Ryan Wingo will take on bigger roles. Texas also has the top recruiting class in the country, according to Rivals, and should add some instant-impact freshmen.”
Despite losing a lot of talent to the NFL, they will just reload for next college football season. The Texas Longhorns will have a lot of talent on the roster for next year to make another run. They will open up the season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road in Week 1 at Buckeye Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Arch Manning Hoping To Help Them Win It All
Quinn Ewers was a good quarterback for the Longhorns over the past two seasons and declared for the NFL Draft. However, some Texas Longhorns fans think that Arch Manning will get them to the next level year in college football. They have not won the National Title since 2005 against the USC Trojans with Vince Young at quarterback.
Arch Manning this past season completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is 6’4″ and weighs 225 lbs. One of the things that Manning does better than Ewers is being athletic and running with the football. The Texas Longhorns can’t wait for Manning to start next year as a redshirt sophomore.
