The Cleveland Browns suffered some brutal injuries this past season and were still able to make the playoffs with their backup quarterback and running back. The worst of the injuries came to their star running back Nick Chubb, in a situation that the TV network did not show the replay as it was that gruesome.
Chubb is returning from the brutal injury this season and he finally shared a bit about how tough it is mentally to come back from such an injury and how blessed he feels that he will one day step back on an NFL field.
Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb Talks About The Harsh Struggle Of Injuries

Chubb suffered a brutal knee injury that ended his season way back in September of last season and he had to undergo two separate surgeries to heal the knee. He has been working hard for almost a year now to come back from that injury and he recently discussed with the media how difficult that has been physically, but even more so mentally.
Chubb revealed how down he was mentally and how his teammates were the main force in lifting his spirits as he came back from this insane injury:
“I was down mentally for a while,” Chubb said, courtesy of The Plain Dealer‘s Mary Kay Cabot. “When you get hurt, it’s one thing. When you get hurt again and you already know what you have to go through, the entire process, surgery, rehab, it’s a non-stop battle every day. So my team did a great job of being there for me, and I was around the building for them. They did a great job, made the playoffs, had a great run.”
Chubb had to go through surgery to completely repair his MCL and meniscus that he destroyed in his left knee just to follow that up with two months later having a second surgery for his ACL.
It is truly insane to think about how much pain and suffering this man has to go through just for his profession, now while of course players get paid millions of dollars, at the same time this is just a human being. Dealing with something like that at 28 years old could easily break a lot of people.
Chubb must have an incredible support system around him to lean on during those incredible painful times of coming back to the field. the 28 year old back revealed his time table for return saying:
“I’m not looking too far ahead,” Chubb said, via ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi. “I’m just taking it day by day.”
This is a guy who could not walk a few months ago so he is just focused on taking each day in and enjoying it with his team. This whole process, while very difficult for him, has thankfully brought him more gratitude as well as he understands in a much deeper way how special it is to play the sport of football.
“It’s a blessing to play this game,” he said, per NFL.com’s Eric Edholm. “You can’t take it for granted because in one play, it can all be taken away. I’m just blessed to have so much support around Cleveland, the fans, my friends, family, just to keep me uplifted and keep me going.”
You can’t help but root for Chubb as he is not only one of the very best in the NFL every time he steps on the field, but now he is also an individual who has triumphed over some incredible adversity. It will be incredibly special for all NFL fans to see him take the field at some point this season.
