The last four and a half weeks have been a roller coaster ride for Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. After two consecutive weeks playing every snap, Wills hyperextended his left knee in Week 7 but managed to play every snap. He would not play in Week 8 because he wasn’t healthy enough to play and garnered controversy after saying he made a “business decision” for not playing that week, but his comments were misconstrued.
Since then, Wills lost the starting job in Week 9, and the Browns officially announced Dawand Jones as the starter during Week 10’s BYE, while he would serve as the swing tackle. Unfortunately for their 1st round pick, he started feeling more discomfort in his knee last week.

The Cleveland Browns LT’s knee flared up
After participating in Week 11’s practice as a full participant, the Browns ruled out Jedrick Wills Jr. in last Friday’s final injury report because his knee flared up during the week. Wills would miss his fifth game of the season in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. Kevin Stefanski told the media Monday that this short week of practice will determine his availability for tomorrow’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“We’ll work through that this week to see if Jed can make it to Thursday night,” Stefanski said. “He was full, still feeling that injury, so just felt like it was best to get him some more treatment on that over the weekend.”
He will not be ready for Thursday Night Football
After being estimated as a non-participant on Monday, Jedrick Wills Jr. participated in Tuesday’s practice as a limited participant and once again estimated as a limited participant for Wednesday’s practice. The Cleveland Browns released their final injury report on Wednesday and ruled out a handful of players, including Wills. He will miss his second consecutive game and his sixth of the season.

Who starts at LT?
As Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN points out, the expectation is for Germain Ifedi to start at left tackle against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ifedi replaced Dawand Jones for the remainder of last week’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. Another offensive tackle to keep an eye out for is Geron Christian Sr., who finished the rest of last season at LT and signed with the Browns yesterday after spending time with the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad.
Either way, whoever starts will have their hands full against the Steelers’ elite pass rush.
