The Cleveland Browns kept four offensive tackles on the 53-man roster. However, the position has injury concerns, with one player dealing with a lower-leg injury and two others carrying extensive injury histories. Cornelius Lucas has missed the last two weeks of practice after suffering an ankle injury in the second preseason game, while Dawand Jones recovered from last season’s fractured fibula and offseason knee surgery, and Jack Conklin aims to stay healthy after missing five games in 2024.

Given the injury concerns, the practice squad could come in handy for the Browns. NFL teams can add up to 17 players to the practice squad, including ten first to second-year players, six veterans, and one from the International Pathway Program. Players on the practice squad practice with the team and can be promoted to the active roster or elevated for gameday three times without penalty.
Cleveland Browns add athletic rookie tackle to practice squad

According to Adam Schefter, the Browns officially signed six players to the practice squad, including Logan Brown. The front office decided to add the athletic offensive tackle to serve as a security blanket. If Cornelius Lucas is unable to play in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team may use one of its two gameday elevations on Brown.

Here’s a quick overview of his college career

Logan Brown, a five-star recruit from the 2019 recruiting class, began his college career with the Wisconsin Badgers, where he was limited to 26 games and three starts across four seasons before being dismissed in 2022. He transferred to the Kansas Jayhawks for the 2023 season, serving as the backup in his first year with the team, but later developed into a starting right tackle in his second. Brown had a breakout senior campaign, allowing six pressures and zero sacks across 11 starts and earning a Second-Team All-Big 12 selection.
Brown had an impressive performance during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, displaying his athleticism. He ran a 5.18 40-yard dash, recorded a 32″ vertical jump, a 9’3″ broad jump, and scored an impressive 9.49 Relative Athletic Score. However, despite his breakout 2024 campaign and his athleticism, the former five-star recruit went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He spent the offseason with an NFC North team

The Minnesota Vikings signed Logan Brown as an undrafted free agent. He competed for the reserve tackle spot during the offseason. Brown had an up-and-down preseason performance, allowing three pressures and three hurries while posting a 64.2 pass-blocking grade, a 37.9 run-blocking grade, and a 47.4 PFF grade over three games and 82 snaps at right tackle and 23 reps at left tackle.
Unfortunately, the Vikings released him during the roster cutdown deadline.
