The 4-8 Cincinnati Bengals will travel to Arlington, Texas, to play against the 5-7 Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium for their 13th regular season game on Monday Night Football. One intriguing matchup that could ultimately decide the outcome of this game is the Cowboys’ 23rd-ranked defensive line vs. the Bengals’ 31st offensive line in PFF’s rankings. The Cowboys’ defense line/pass rush has done a solid job rushing the passer this season with all of the injuries and still ranks in the top 12 in hurries, quarterback hits, pressures, and sacks. Although the Bengals’ offense line doesn’t allow that many sacks and hurries, they have given up a lot of pressures and quarterback hits.
The Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl LT aggravated his injury last week
Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. returned to the starting lineup for their Week 13 defeat over the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing the previous three with a fibula injury that has affected him since Week 8. Brown did not perform well, as PFF dinged him with five pressures, two hurries, two QB hits, one sack allowed, and a measly 26.6 PFF grade. Despite playing every single snap, the Pro Bowler aggravated the injury last week.
It’s not looking good for the blindside protector
Zac Taylor told the media during Thursday’s press conference that Orlando Brown Jr. hasn’t progressed the way they hoped. Taylor also said Brown is doubtful for their Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Finally, he didn’t rule out the possibility of placing him on season-ending injured reserve.
“I don’t know about that yet, you know, we’ll just continue to work through the week with Orlando,” Taylor said about putting him on IR as well. “We’ll see, he’d be doubtful right now.”
Who starts at LT?
The expectation is for Cody Ford to take over at left tackle if Orlando Brown Jr. misses time in this hypothetical. Ford, who started Weeks 9-11 at LT, moved over to left guard for Week 13 as Cordell Volson headed to the bench. Since Brown will likely miss some time, Volson could get his old starting job back on the offensive line.
