Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers running back, recently reacted to linebacker Fred Warner signing a new $63 million deal with the team for a period of three years. The contract extension makes Warner the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL right now. McCaffrey posted a graphic post on his Instagram account, sharing a saluting emoji and a handshake emoji.
Warner has been playing for the San Francisco 49ers since 2018 after being selected by the team as the 70th pick in the third round of the NFL draft. Before the league, the 28-year-old linebacker played college football for the BYU Tigers. In the 2024 NFL season, Warner managed 76 solo tackles with a single sack for the 49ers.
Fred Warner’s contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers is just one of several deals that the team has made in the last few days. Apart from the linebacker, San Francisco also signed a contract extension with the team for a period of four years and became the highest paid tight end in NFL history. Brock Purdy, whose contract extension was hanging over everyone’s head for quite some time, also scored a deal with the 49ers for a sum of $265 million.
Christian McCaffrey’s San Francisco 49ers are definitely showing eagerness to hold on to their star players and improve their record in the upcoming NFL season. In the previous football season, the 49ers finished last in the NFC West after winning six games and losing 11. The 49ers played their very last game against the Cardinals, losing with a final score of 47-24 and eventually being chucked from the tournament.
Christian McCaffrey Welcomed Back After Injury
On another note, Christian McCaffrey fans will be delighted to know that the running back will be playing for the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming NFL season. McCaffrey did not play much in the previous football season after injuring his Achilles tendon in both his legs and also tearing one of his PCLs. McCaffrey went on to miss 13 games in the last season for the 49ers.
McCaffrey has been playing for the San Francisco 49ers since 2022 after moving to the team from the Carolina Panthers where he played from 2017 to 2022. McCaffrey has been in the league after being selected by the Panthers as the eighth pick in the very first round of the draft. In the 2023 NFL season, McCaffrey was crowned NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Prior to the league, the running back played college football for the Stanford Cardinal.
