The Chiefs and Cowboys are going into the 2024 season with expectations of competing for a Super Bowl. That would make sense give that these two teams went for a combined 23-11 last season. The Chiefs will look to be the first NFL team three-peat since the 1960s Green Bay Packers.
Dallas is looking to finally get over that playoff hump and make it to (at least) the conference championship game. However, they will have to do so without one target many thought they were interested in.
The Kansas City Chiefs Sign Wide Receiver Many Thought The Dallas Cowboys Were Interested In
Our very own Robin Adams initially covered the news:
On Monday morning, news broke that the Chiefs had decided to sign wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who played for them during the 2022 NFL season and won Super Bowl LVII with the team.
In his lone season with the Chiefs, Smith-Schuster had 78 receptions for 933 yards and three touchdowns. He had seven receptions for 53 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Dallas was reportedly interested in Smith-Schuster heading into the season.
An article by Bleacher Report published this morning highlighted why Smith-Schuster would be a good fit for Dallas:
Add Now: WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
CeeDee Lamb’s holdout continues and ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported that even if he and the Cowboys reach an agreement soon, the wideout might not be ready for game action given the time off.
Editor’s Note: Smith-Schuster signed with the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz.
In the meantime, the offense could use a slot receiver with a proven track record. That player currently isn’t on the team’s roster, which is where Smith-Schuster and his 5,000 career receiving yards and 30 touchdowns can come in.
It didn’t stop there, however:
JuJu Smith-Schuster has been a name thrown around for that Dallas may be interested in for months now. When fans saw he was reuniting with the Chiefs, they reacted accordingly:
Dallas should’ve signed him

I like JuJu.
Unfortunately, he is committed to spending his entire career playing with teams I cannot stand (other than Pittsburgh, for the most part). https://t.co/O4JJoLLBL0
