The Dallas Cowboys have been actively searching for a reliable No. 2 wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb, and recent trade rumors have linked them to George Pickens. The speculation intensified after the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks, signaling that Pickens could be on the move.
With Pickens entering the final year of his rookie contract, Pittsburgh was reportedly open to trade discussions, and Dallas emerged as a strong contender. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted at “substantive” trade talks in late April, fueling speculation that Pickens was a primary target.

Pickens, known for his deep-threat ability and physical playstyle, would provide a much-needed boost to the Cowboys’ passing attack. His addition would also help quarterback Dak Prescott, who struggled with a lack of reliable receiving options last season. With Dallas failing to draft a wide receiver in 2025, acquiring Pickens became a priority.
Ultimately, the trade materialized, with the Cowboys officially announcing the acquisition of Pickens today.
CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens Dynamic Duo Expected by Fans
Dallas Cowboys fans are buzzing with excitement following the team’s trade for George Pickens, which pairs him with superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb to form one of the NFL’s most intriguing wide receiver duos. Pickens’ ability to stretch the field with his explosive deep-threat skills complements Lamb’s elite route-running and versatility.

Pickens’ arrival is particularly exciting for Cowboys fans after the team failed to draft a wide receiver in 2025, leading to concerns about depth at the position. Now, Dallas has a proven pass-catcher who has never posted fewer than 800 receiving yards in a season, including a career-high 1,140 yards in 2023.

During the 2024 season, CeeDee Lamb recorded 101 receptions for 1,194 yards, averaging 11.8 yards per catch, and scored six touchdowns. His consistency in the passing game kept Dallas competitive, though the team struggled overall. Lamb remained one of the league’s top wide receivers, showcasing his ability to make big plays and serve as a reliable target for Dak Prescott.
