The 2-7 Carolina Panthers traveled to Munich, Germany, to play against the 2-7 New York Giants at Allianz Arena for their tenth regular season game of the 2024 season. After recently upsetting the New Orleans Saints, the Panthers hope to win back-to-back games for the first time since the 2022 season, when they won consecutive games in Weeks 12 and 14. Sunday is a great opportunity since they play in Germany.
Unfortunately, their offensive line is banged up. Two of their ideal five starting linemen will not play. Starting center Austin Corbett is out for the season, and their blindside protector is nursing an injury.
The Carolina Panthers promising blindside protector is battling a lower-leg injury
Panthers’ former 1st round pick, Ikem Ekwonu, suffered an apparent ankle injury in the second half of their Week 8 defeat over the Denver Broncos. Ekwonu sat out for a few possessions in the second half, and the injury limited him to 50 (82%) offensive snaps. Dave Canales didn’t provide an injury update on the first-round pick during the postgame.
Ekwonu did not participate in last week’s practice. The Panthers released their final injury report of the week last Friday and ruled him out. Last week’s victory over the New Orleans Saints marked the first game he has missed in his young NFL career.
He will miss another game
For the second consecutive week, Ikem Ekwonu did not participate in this week’s practice as he continues to recover from his ankle injury. The Panthers released their final injury report of the week a little while ago and ruled out a handful of players. One of the players the team ruled out included Ekwonu.
Who starts at LT?
For the second consecutive game, the expectation is for Brady Christensen to replace Ikem Ekwonu as Bryce Young’s blindside protector. Christensen opened the season as the backup center to Austin Corbett but started Weeks 6-8 since Corbett got injured in Week 5. Despite getting the nod at center from Weeks 6-8, he got the nod at left tackle for Week 9.
