Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is coming off a poor rookie season in the NFL. Many felt that he let the Panthers down by having a brutal campaign in his first year in the league, especially since Carolina chose him as the top pick overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The jury is still out, though, for Young and better things could come for him in 2024.
Bryce Young’s father speaks up about his son’s support system

Being a quarterback in the NFL is a grueling job, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Young benefited from Carolina having a mental health clinician, and his father, Craig, also thinks that it helped the former Alabama Crimson Tide star signal-caller cope with the rigors of professional football.
Young, who said he met with the team’s mental health clinician last season, wants mental health professionals to be there for others the way they’ve been there for him.
“As bad as last year was, and it was awful, do I think having a background in mental health and family helped him? One thousand percent,” said Craig said (h/t David Newton of ESPN).
During Young’s NFL rookie season, he passed for just 2,877 yards and nearly had as many interceptions as touchdowns. He had 11 TDs against a total of 10 picks while completing only 59.8 percent of his throws. Growing pains are expected of Young during the early goings of his NFL career, but it must have also been tough for Panthers fans to see C.J. Stroud, the QB selected in last year’s draft after Young, take off right away, as he even led the Houston Texans to the NFL playoffs.
