The Detroit Lions finished with a 15-2 record during the 2024 season. Detroit was the one seed in the NFC before they lost to the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round.

The Lions offense had some hiccups in the game against Washington, but the defense to no surprise was gashed. There will be some questions about quarterback Jared Goff entering the 2025 NFL season. Can Goff help this team win a Super Bowl because they are knocking on the door to potentially win one.
NFL Insider Questions Whether Or Not the Detroit Lions Can Win a Super Bowl With Jared Goff At Quarterback

Many different NFL writers for ESPN.com answered some pivotal questions about the NFC North division entering the 2025 NFL season. One of the questions was which quarterback has the most to prove? Eric Woodyard of espn.com thinks that the Lions starting quarterback, Goff, will have the most to prove in 2025. Woodyard said,
“After a historic 2024 regular season, during which he reached career highs in touchdowns (37) and QBR (68.4) — it all ended in disappointment with a stunning upset loss to the Washington Commanders in the NFC divisional round. Goff accounted for four of the team’s five turnovers in that game, including three interceptions and a lost fumble.
So the question remains: Can Goff help the team win a Super Bowl? He has yet to prove that despite all of his individual success.”
Goff during the 2024 NFL regular season completed 72.4% of his passes for 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He was second in passing yards last season and he was fourth in passing touchdowns in the NFL. Goff had Ben Johnson as his offensive coordinator in 2024, and it will be interesting to see how the offense will operate in 2025 under head coach Dan Campbell without Johnson.
Detroit will still be the favorite to win the NFC North division, and they will be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Lions can win a Super Bowl with Goff with the talent they have on the roster. He led the Los Angeles Rams to a Super Bowl appearance when Sean McVay was his head coach. Also, Goff is going to be fine without Johnson. If they don’t win a Super Bowl, it won’t be because of Goff. It will be because of another bad defensive outing.
